Nightmare on Del Playa Drive (UCSB/IV)
When it comes to celebrating Halloween in California, University of California, Santa Barbara is definitely an elite campus ranked amongst the other UC’s and CSU’s.
Cali Bred decided to go up to the middle of Cali and see exactly how they like to get down, and let us say, Santa Barbara definitely gets down. Close to 50,000 California natives from Northern Cali, Southern Cali, and the local areas filled Del Playa Drive dressed in some amazing costumes including Pac-Man and the ghosts and the Girls Gone Wild film crew.
For the most part, things were kept under control, and the many students and other attendees were able to enjoy themselves in innocent, intoxicated, fun. Small packs of police officers monitored the sea of people, making sure there was no public drinking going on or any irate individuals trying to induce a scuffle. However, despite the attendees being aware of the police force on hand, this day of the year Santa Barbara probably hits their ticket quota for the remainder of the year.
Lining Del Playa Drive were hundreds of homes and apartment units belonging to Isla Vista locals and UCSB Greek Societies. Amongst these different residents, you could find a different party to attend and take some time off the crowded streets. Despite the comfort of the home, most visitors opted to spend their night patrolling the streets. In addition to the high energy going on down Del Playa Drive, the local hotels and motels also saw their own recreations of this major event.
All in all, the trip to Santa Barbara for Halloween is definitely something we recommend you get a chance to experience. If you would like to contact Cali Bred about the experience and tips for your trip, feel free to contact us or any peers you have in the area or that may have experienced the “Nightmare on Del Playa Drive” themselves.
Long Range
Not a bad way to start off a Friday night. Hit up the Firing Line indoor shooting range for a little bit.
Walked in thinking we would all be able to shoot, make sure you stay out of trouble or you’ll end up sitting behind the glass like that guy lol. The range had 20+ different guns to choose from, including rifles and handguns. If you own a shotgun, more than welcome to bring it and fire their rounds. They also had a few Mossberg Shotguns for sale. The guys who work there are also pretty cool too. Cali Bred recommendation would be to check out the Kimber .45.
If you’re interested in going to Firing Line indoor shooting range, they can be found at: 18348 Eddy St., Northridge, 91324. Or you can give them a call at: (818) 349-1420. Hours of operation are from 12noon to 10pm Monday through Friday and 10am to 10pm Saturday and Sunday.
If you would also like to make your voice heard, act now on AB962 and SB585. More information on these bills can be found at Cal Guns. Be sVperb, and get your voice heard.
Twoo BiG
Over the weekend we celebrated a Cali Bred birthday fresh out of Vallejo, California, Kenneth Villagra. Celebration kicked off with the purchase of five bottles of Ciroc Vodka for the sVperb wholesale price of $85.00 (shout out to Tuan). The bottles were distributed amongst a host of Cali Breeds.
Friday night was the highlight event of the weekend, hosted by CSUN’s Beta Gamma Nu (BGN) Fraternity. The theme of the event was a Blue Luau. BGN family members greeted all guests at the entrance with a colored lei. Ladies got the sVperb ones of course while new recruits received solid white.
The layout of the event location consisted of an open yard with a sVperb pool that you can see in the pictures below. Overlooking the pool was an upscale patio deck which hosted a bar and seating as well. This is where we ran into founding member of BGN out of University of Southern California, Richard.
Apparently we must have been partying a little too hard because a ghetto bird decided to emerge in the night sky. But considering BGN is known as unstoppable, had to continue with a successful event. Shortly after dispersing from the first location, the hosts showed their guests to a second venue where we continued the fun through activities like dancing, beer pong, and of course the pool.
One Day At A Time
So I’m still playing with this whole lifestyle idea. The purpose of posting blog entries such as this one and the Who Says You Can’t Wear White After Labor Day is to get you familiar with the Cali Bred lifestyle. Aside from these day-to-day activities and smaller events, I have been networking with some other Cali Breeds who posses some other talents. Just being patient and lining up the proper approach of conglomerating and introducing their different works and how they reflect this same sVperb Cali Bred lifestyle. So within the upcoming months, hopefully weeks, Cali Bred will be introducing to you some sVperb Cali Breeds. With that, I leave it to you to discover where you natural talent lies.
