A Lady is Crowned | Miss CSUN ’09

So for those of you who missed it, last Tuesday, the honorable men of Phi Delta Theta hosted the annual Miss CSUN Competitions at the Nordhoff Theater on the Cal State Northridge campus.

The competition consisted of seven participants from seven different sororities from the CSUN campus, including first time participating, Lambda Sigma Gamma. The sororities that participated in the competition included Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, Alpha Phi, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Zeta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and again Lambda Sigma Gamma.

Each participant competed in several different competitions including: swimwear, talent, formal-wear, and question and answer. The event also included performances from CSUN Step Team and Hip-Hop Dance Team. Despite audio malfunction during the step team’s opening performance, the crowd cheered them on as they clapped and stomped to their own tune. The dance team also received a host of applause after their performance, which followed the brief intermission between the swimwear competition and formal-wear competition.

The participants included all of the following ladies and acts:
Miss Justine representing Alpha Omicron Pi. Originally from New York and currently in her fourth year at CSUN, also serving as Vice-President of Administration. She came out in a sporty multicolored one-piece, performed an upbeat dance show, and rocked a spicy-red gown.
Miss Melinda representing Alpha Xi Delta. Originally from the Orange County, serving in her third year with Alpha Xi Delta and currently a Liberal Studies major with ambitions of being an elementary school teacher. She decided to switch things up and came out with some scuba gear, cracked a host of jokes, and wore another hot-red gown.
Miss Claudia representing Alpha Phi. The youngest participant of all at eighteen years old and serving as a broadcast journalism major at CSUN. She came out in a lovely white two-piece, gave the crowd an early Christmas present with her “Santa Baby” dance, and wore a stunning, purple, reflective gown.
Miss Daniella representing Delta Delta Delta. Currently serving in her third year at CSUN and double majoring in Psychology and Child Development. She has ambitions of going to graduate school and currently works with children suffering from autism. She sported a sleek, black, one piece; wowed the audience with her Salvadorian shake down, and wore a lovely multi-blue gown that draped the floor.
Miss Ariel representing Delta Zeta. She has currently been involved with Delta Zeta for a year and is currently an Informational Systems-IT major. She came out in a sporty, pink two-piece, shook her and hips and hit the splits, and wore an elegant light-blue gown.
Miss Katie representing Kappa Kappa Gamma. She is currently in her first year with Kappa Kappa Gamma and majoring in Music. She is currently involved in pursuing a career in singing and has ambitions of ultimately being a producer. She switched things up by mixing her dual colored two-piece with some snow gear reflecting her hobby of snowboard. She also silenced the crowd with a solo, singing performance and came out in a tasteful, yellow gown, similar to Beauty in the famous movie, Beauty and the Beast.
Miss Jacky representing Lambda Sigma Gamma. She has been a member of Lambda Sigma Gamma since the Fall semester of 2007. She is currently a graduating, fourth-year, senior majoring in Psychology and an active participant on the CSUN cheer team for the last two years. Her future dreams are to work with children suffering from autism. Jacky tricked the crowd when she came out in a t-shirt with a characterized woman’s body which was hiding her sexy, white, two-piece. She wowed the audience with a stellar belly-dance performance and came out in a classy, black gown with a hint of shimmering stones.

Miss Alpha Xi Delta received Miss Congeniality
Miss Kappa Kappa Gamma received second runner-up
Miss Lambda Sigma Gamma received first runner-up
And the pageant winner was Miss Delta Delta Delta

Opinion: The pageant was excellent, from the opening acts and hosts keeping the audience entertained. To the outfits worn by each participant and raffled prizes. All-in-all, each participant did an excellent job and all the ladies deserve appreciation despite a ranking.

Our sorority’s name was mispelled and misrepresented twice, it’s ALPHA XI DELTA, not Alphi Xi Delta, not Alpha Zeta Delta, thank you :)
