Lovin Cali
SicWest being a California native, born and raised in Inglewood for a little while and grew up in Torrance out of the South Bay. His background is very diverse, unique, and authentic. Actively engaged in the hip-hop arena of his alma mater North High, you could catch him simply zoning out, participating in any cypher, or simply challenging himself and any other MC in his path.
From the cafeteria to campus hallways and football concession to the quad, SicWest would always be playing and rhyming with words or kicking an “off-the-top” freestyle. Wearing the South Bay as his backpack and giving his culture a new face, SicWest is the artist you’ve been waiting for to take on this new generation of Hip-Hop culture.
SicWest recently dropped the video to the single Love Cali, which has been positioned on the Cali Bred homepage and About Us section since we’ve launched to harmonically describe what Cali Bred is all about. The video shoot, sponsored and produced by Southern Cali based Fly or Die Clothing, was spanned out for about a week and shot at various locations around Southern Cali. A few of these places included North High, Rodeo Drive, and of course the Pacific Beach. The video does a great job at depicting the “new breed of California Lifestyle.”
SicWest is also currently working on a mixtape with Fly or Die Clothing that will be titled “Fly or Die”. You can see SicWest sporting some Fly or Die gear throughout the video. The mixtape is “based on the basics of good and bad and daily routines and trials and tribulations of life.” SicWest went on to say, “In the beginning I wake up and basically walk through the different goods and evils in my life. Being what I see throughout the day, my depression, girl problems, and even the good times. It all ends with me trying to find my peace and serenity, ending with the anthem of pure satisfaction to me to close out the mixtape.”
SicWest‘s “Fly or Die,” differs from most mixtapes by providing an album-like concept. The mixtape will contain a mixture of tracks: laid back, relaxed and heart-felt music with a collaboration of soul and head banging beats. “Fly or Die” provides a new feel of Hip-Hop and Cali Bred music culture combined. To sum up the under-construction mixtape, it is simply new, cutting edge, trendy, fresh, and definitely distinct. In the words of SicWest, “Simply cool, Simply fresh, Simply South Bay, Simply Cali Bred, Simply SicWest!”
